Philippians 2:5-8 (NLT)
“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.”
The NIV says: “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus…”
After watching the state of the nation last night, going onto Facebook and seeing floods of messages of anger and hatred toward the government. I saw fear, despair, hopelessness, and darkness. My heart felt so overwhelmed… I am not one to get into politics and so on… but as Christians in this time we have an opportunity to be different and respond different to draw others to our Father.
We have to choose to SEE the opportunity, the good, the effort, the hope and to see the beauty! We have the opportunity to choose to RESPOND to mistakes with grace, despair with peace, fear with hope, hatred with love and darkness with light! We have the opportunity to choose ACTION, when we see the hungry to feed them, when we see the thirsty to give them a drink and when we see the naked to clothe them. These are the things that will draw others into the Kingdom of God!
We need to follow in the footsteps of our Savior’s attitude and mindset by being humble and giving love, hope, peace, forgiveness and light! We need to keep our eyes fixed on the Kingdom of God!
